Theft attempt

Would-be thieves pried open a window at the rear of Clyde’s Pizza on Highway 65 near Soderville Dec. 26. They forced open a cigarette machine and juke box, but the machines were apparently empty. The damage, however, was estimated at $75.

First baby of 1984

Lori Ann Palmer was born at Mercy Medical Center at 0025 Jan. 1 and became the first baby born in 1984 in the metropolitan area. She weighed seven pounds, 11.5 ounces. Her parents are Steven and Jenine Palmer of 103rd Ave. NE, Blaine.

Skull from Panama found

A skull from Panama was found in Blaine and affectionately dubbed “Leslie of Blaine” by Anoka County investigators for lack of a better name or proper identification. The skull is that of a pre-Columbian male, 25-40 years old, born between 850-900 A.D. Two 15 year old boys found the skull in the back yard at 814 121st Lane in Blaine. Blaine police searched the area but did not find any other parts of Leslie or fresh diggings.
