The 2014 season of Coon Rapids Arts Commission’s dessert and coffee concert series kicks off Thursday, Jan. 9.
The Holy Rocka Rollaz will be performing 1950s music at the Coon Rapids Civic Center at 7 p.m.
The band plays early rock ‘n’ roll of Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Johnny Cash and others.
The trio, which comprise front man Mark Flora together with standup bassist Paul Jongeward and drummer Matt Alexander, have played on many stages, including the Back to the ‘50s Car Show at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, First Avenue, the Cabooze, the historic Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa, the Hinckley Grand Casino Concert Hall, the Uptown Bar and the Fine Line.
There will be four concerts in the series, one each month – January, February, March and April – on the second Thursday.
The remaining concerts on the schedule are:
• Thursday, Feb. 13, City of Lakes Chorus, barbershop chorus.
• Thursday, March 13, The Percolators, variety/country.
• Thursday, April 10, The Bill & Tom Show, variety.
In addition to the concert, dessert and coffee will be served.
Admission, which includes dessert and beverage, is $7 for adults and $5 for adults age 65 and older and children age 12 and under.
There is a $4 discount when tickets are purchased for all four concerts.

The Coon Rapids Arts Commission promotes local cultural productions and talents, including band concerts and art shows, and identifies and heightens community awareness of cultural needs in the community, according to the city of Coon Rapids website.
The commission meets the third Tuesday of the month at 5:45 p.m.
