The 44th annual Minnesota Sportsmen’s Boat, Camping & Vacation Show, presented by Coon Rapids-based Cenaiko Productions, opens Thursday, Jan. 9 at St. Paul RiverCentre, running through Sunday, Jan. 12.
The event is once again sponsored by Mauer Chevrolet.
Hundreds of exhibits feature the latest outdoor products and services. New model boats and RVs are on display, along with hunting, camping and fishing gear.
Scores of representatives from fishing and hunting lodges, resorts, campgrounds, fly-ins and outfitters are there to help with next summer’s vacation plans.
The show’s offerings also include free seminars and special features designed for outdoor lovers of every age.
Watercraft at the show includes new model fishing and power boats, pontoons and personal watercraft. Docks, lifts, motors and marine accessories are also featured.
Recreational vehicles (RVs) range from folding camping trailers and truck campers to motor homes of all sizes. Van conversions, sport utility vehicles and ATVs are also on display.
The expansive tackle section includes rods, reels, sonar equipment, GPS systems and fishing accessories.
Seminar headliners at this year’s show include fishing guide Steve Carney on Thursday and Friday, and pro fisherman Ted Takasaki on Saturday and Sunday. Joe Henry talks about fishing on Lake of the Woods on Saturday and Sunday.
Outdoor writer Todd Amenrud offers his hunting advice every day.
Dog trainer Jason Dommeyer also appears daily, while outdoorsman and TV personality Ron Schara hosts the special “Kids’ Fishing School” on Saturday and Sunday.
Bwana Jim’s Wildlife Show, returns again this year with critters, from armadillos and alligators to possums and snakes.
Also returning to the show is Steve Porter’s Trophy Whitetails, featuring three live bucks. Included is Bonehead, with an impressive 32 points, along with Stormin’ Norman and Double XL.
At the Fur-Ever Wild exhibit, wolves, bobcats, raccoons, foxes and other wild animals will be on display. Featured this year are the adolescent cougar cubs, Scar and Kovu.
The always popular live trout pond also returns.
The show will be open Thursday from 2-9 p.m., Friday from noon to 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Admission is $9 for adults, $2.50 for children aged six to 12 and free for children five and under.
