Coon Rapids seniors mark new year at noon

Coon Rapids seniors welcomed the new year in novel style with a Dec. 31 Noon Year’s Eve Party at the Coon Rapids Senior Center.

Back by popular demand, the four-piece Riverside Swing Band entertained with musical selections from days gone by as some 175 seniors watched the clock count down to high noon.

Sporting paper top hats and tiaras, sipping non-alcoholic sparkling cider and decaffeinated coffee, the seniors offered a spirited welcome to 2014 and a fond farewell to 2013.

After toasting the coming year with a spirited rendition of “Auld Lang Syne” seniors enjoyed a lunch served by city staff.
