Two Blaine men are facing felony charges in Anoka County District Court in a case where $120 was stolen from a man who was meeting with them to buy a cell phone.
Darrius Trayvon Wicklife, 19, was charged with theft, while Brandon James Labrec, 18, is facing a fifth-degree controlled substance possession charge. Both were charged Dec. 23 by the Anoka County Attorney’s Office.
At 9:27 p.m. Dec. 20, the Blaine Police Department responded to a report of a theft on the 290 block of County Road 10, according to the criminal complaint.
A man told officers that he was buying a cell phone from a friend, who was in a vehicle being driven by a man later identified as Wicklife. The man said as they were discussing the price, Wicklife allegedly grabbed $120 out of his hand and sped off without giving him the cell phone.
The alleged victim gave police a vehicle description and Wicklife was located a short time later. During a search of three other occupants of the vehicle, authorities allegedly found six Klonopin pills on Labrec for which he did not have a prescription.
