There will be a wall of hope, 76-second drill, spin the wheel and a halfcourt shot (worth $5,000) during halftime of the varsity game.

Buckets for Breast Cancer at Andover

Andover girls’ basketball hosts its eighth annual Buckets for Breast Cancer event Feb. 8. The high school program teams will attempt 100 free throws for the event and receive pledges from the community for each made basket or a set donation.

Money raised will go to support breast cancer patient needs at Mercy and Unity hospitals in addition to help fund the Mary Jo Claus Basketball Scholarship Fund in a 70/30 split. The fund is in memory of Claus, who helped develop the basketball program in Andover. Scholarships are given to girls’ basketball players and managers who demonstrate excellence in academics, athletics and community service.
