Candidates have been announced for the annual Coon Rapids Junior Royalty Pageant, which takes place Saturday, Feb. 8, 1 p.m., in the Coon Rapids High School auditorium as part of the annual Coon Rapids Snowflake Days celebration, which marks its 50th anniversary next year.
The pageant, which is open to boys and girls that live, attend school or worship in Coon Rapids, has four divisions – petite for girls ages five to seven; petite for boys ages five to nine; junior for girls ages eight to 12; and teen for girls aged 13 to 16.
• Petite girls: Faith Serna, Aurora Riehm, Bailey Sinnett, Lucia Dorumsgaard, Caris Clark, Nwanne Turray.
• Petite boys (commodore): Dillon Rumble, Danny Wolfgram.
• Junior girls: Maggie Gese, Krista Eckert, Jennifer Carlson.
• Teen girls: Katie Cederberg, Kaitlyn Wolfgram.
The competition is based on 50 percent interview with the judges and 50 percent modeling with personal speech.
Queen, princess and commodore winners will receive sashes, trophies, crowns or caps and flower bouquets.
Winners are expected to take part in a minimum of 19 parades as well as coronations and various community events and activities during Coon Rapids Snowflake Days and throughout the year.
And as a group the 2014 Coon Rapids Junior Royalty will perform 10 hours of community service for the city of Coon Rapids.
Tickets to attend the pageant at $8, while children under four years of age get in free.
