January 21, 2014
The special meeting was called to order by Chairperson Roberts 6:07 p.m. with the following members present: Directors Suzanne Erkel, Janet Glover, Barbara Jahnke, Amy Kelly, Betsy Roed, Marsha Van Denburgh, and Superintendent Saxton.
Agenda
Motion to approve the Agenda was made by Ms. Kelly, second by Ms. Jahnke.
Motion carried 7-0.
Motion was made by Ms. Van Denburgh, second Ms. Jahnke.
BE IT RESOLVED by the School Board of Independent School District No. 15 that the School Board Chair contact legal counsel on behalf of the Board when appropriate.
Motion carried 7-0.
Motion was made by Ms. Van Denburgh, second by Ms. Jahnke.
BE IT RESOLVED by the School Board of Independent School District No. 15 that David Lindberg be placed on paid administrative leave effective January 8, 2014, pending the outcome of investigation by Rupp, Anderson, Squires, and Waldspurger, P.A. (RASW)
Motion carried 7-0.
Chairperson Roberts read the following resolution.
BE IT RESOLVED by the School Board of Independent School District No. 15 that a closed session be conducted for the purpose of preliminary consideration of allegations against an individual subject to its authority under subd. 2(b) of the Open Meetings Law, Minnesota Statutes Chapter 13D.05
Closed Session: Motion by Ms. Erkel, second by Ms. Jahnke. Vote: 7-0
Those in attendance: Directors Suzanne Erkel, Janet Glover, Barbara Jahnke, Amy Kelly, David Roberts, Betsy Roed, Marsha Van Denburgh, and Superintendent Saxton.
Motion was made by Ms. Van Denburgh, second Ms. Roed.
BE IT RESOLVED by the School Board of Independent School District No. 15 that Ed Saxton be placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a third party firm chosen by the Board.
Motion carried 7-0.
Resume Open Meeting: Motion by Ms. Van Denburgh: I move that the open meeting be resumed, second by Ms. Glover. Vote: 7-0. Time: 6:26 p.m.
The School Board met in closed session and it was determined to place Edward Saxton on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation into allegations against him.
Motion was made by Ms. Glover to appoint Troy Ferguson as Interim Superintendent, second by Ms. Erkel.
Motion carried 7-0.
The School Board appointed Ms. Jahnke, Ms. Erkel and Mr. Roberts to consult with three investigation firms suggested by RASW and bring findings to the Board on January 27.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:46 p.m.
