After canceling school for extreme cold five days this month, Spring Lake Park District 16 will make up two of those days next week, Feb. 6 and 7.
Students were scheduled to have the days off for parent-teacher conferences and a teacher in-service.
The decision was made Jan. 28 after discussion at the school board work session.
Since all five days lost fell within trimester two, it made sense to administration and board members to make up the days now, rather than into June, they said.
The state requires elementary students to have 935 hours of instruction and students in grades seven through 12 to be in school for 1,020 hours of instruction each year.
Seniors will need to make up additional time at a later date since they finish school one week before their younger classmates.
More information, including how daytime conferences will be handled, will be available soon.
