Two well-known Twin Cities musicians will present an acoustic concert as part of the 50th anniversary of Coon Rapids Snowflake Days.
GB Leighton and Tim Mahoney will perform at The Harvest Grill Restaurant, located at the Bunker Hills Golf Course Clubhouse, Coon Rapids, Thursday, Feb. 6.
The concert is sponsored by the Coon Rapids Athletic Association with all proceeds going to the Coon Rapids Snowflake Association.
The doors opens at 7 p.m. with cash bar and appetizers from 7-8 p.m. followed by the concert from 8-10 p.m.
Following the concert, there will be a meet and greet session with Leighton and Mahoney, who will sign autographs.
According to Leighton’s website, his reputation for a “phenomenal live show” is anchored in the Midwest, but he has been no stranger to Nashville as well, where he has taken part in studio recordings since the mid-1990s.
He has survived testicular cancer and devotes his spare time to the Randy Shaver Cancer Foundation and the Angel Foundation of Minnesota.
GB Leighton’s Pickle Park in Fridley was named after him and his songs by the current owner because it is a bar where he has played regularly for many years, and still does, his website states.
“How cool is it to walk into the restaurant and see food named after your tunes,” Leighton states on his website.
Minneapolis-based Mahoney has had a career and a songwriter for more than 15 years.
According to his website, Mahoney has sold over 100,000 units of his various releases between a solo career and as a member of The Blue Meenies.
He has won multiple awards and also won or placed high in songwriting contests about 15 times over the past decade, the website states.
Mahoney has also appeared on NBC’s hit reality show, “The Voice.”
