A third comedy benefit show will be presented by Roger Peterson Productions at the Coon Rapids American Legion.
The show will take place Saturday, Feb. 22, 8 p.m.
Titled “One for the Club Room,” the show will raise money for the replacement of the carpeting in the Legion post club room.
Previous comedy benefit shows produced by Peterson, the Legion’s former club manager, have raised money for a new roof, which was replaced last fall, and purchasing new equipment for the kitchen.
According to Peterson, this show is a win-win situation for the Legion as it provides the members with an opportunity to see national touring comedians based out of the Twin Cities while benefiting their Legion post.
As emcee of the show, Peterson said he enjoys performing, as well as hosting, so he can prepare the audience for the comics taking the stage.
Roger Schultz is special guest at the show. He has hosted and performed at the Comedy Corner Underground, Goonies, Acme Comedy Company, making appearances throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin, according to Peterson.
Also on the bill are comedians Maggie Faris and Tom Baumgartner.
Faris is the winner of several comedy competitions, including being the first woman to win “The Gender Showdown,” Peterson said.
She has been the public address announcer for the St. Paul Saints baseball team and has appeared two years in a row on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.”
“Maggie Faris is noted for her ceaselessly cheerful personality and seemingly endless series of quirky, intelligent jokes dissecting our fears and social barriers with lighthearted material that forces the audience to laugh at their insecurities and prejudices,” Peterson said.
According to Peterson, Baumgartner started acting in theater, television and radio commercials and industrial films in the mid-1970s, getting into the local standup comedy club scene in 1979 and eventually moving to Los Angeles, Calif., in late 1988.
While in Los Angeles, Baumgartner acted in some TV shows and commercials and also did some standup TV shows, Peterson said.
Baumgartner has appeared with Jay Leno, Louie Anderson, Dennis Miller, David Brenner and Tom Arnold.
The show will contain adult language and situations; no one under the age of 18 will be admitted, Peterson said.
Advance VIP tickets are $100 for a table of 10 or $10 single; club level tickets are $82 for a table of eight or $9 single seats.
A table of eight can also be reserved in advance for $64 or $8 for single seats. General admission is $7.
The night of the show VIP tickets are $15 each, $10 for all others.
