An Anoka man in a wheelchair who was struck by a vehicle on Coon Rapids Boulevard the night of Jan. 19 has died.
Philip T. Paulsrud, 52, died at Mercy Hospital Jan. 24, according to Capt. Cary Parks, Coon Rapids Police.
Paulsrud was in his wheelchair traveling on the boulevard shortly before 10:30 p.m. Jan. 19 at 100th Lane by the Lilli Putt Entertainment Center, Parks said.
There is no sidewalk on that side of the boulevard, nor a shoulder, so Paulsrud was in the driving lane when he was struck by a car driven by a 56-year-old man, he said.
Westbound Coon Rapids Boulevard is three lanes from Avocet Street and Egret Boulevard, which includes the area where the accident occurred, Parks said.
According to the Coon Rapids Police accident report, Paulsrud was thrown 50 feet from his wheelchair.
No one was with Paulsrud at the time, the report states.
The driver has not been cited or charged in connection with the accident, Parks said.
Paulsrud is survived by an very large extended family with a memorial service pending until spring, according to his obituary notice which appeared in the Jan. 29 StarTribune.
