It’s the third week of the Coon Rapids history trivia contest, an ongoing event during the 50th anniversary of Coon Rapids Snowflake Days.
The first two questions related to Coon Rapids history were published in the Coon Rapids Herald and posted on the Coon Rapids Snowflake Days website (www.coonrapidssnowflakedays.weebly.com) Jan. 24 and 31.
The third question is, “What resort on Crooked Lake was destroyed by fire in 1961?”
The fourth and final questions will be published in the Herald and on the Snowflake Days website Feb. 14.
Community members can submit their answers by completing a form found on the “Coon Rapids Trivia Contest” page of the Snowflake Days website.
A $125 cash prize is awarded to one winner on each of the four contest dates via a random drawing of all correct answers.
The prizes are sponsored by Coon Rapids-based Cedar Valley Exteriors, which for the past 14 years has helped property owners in 28 states restore and improve their assets, according to the company website.
Picture scavenger hunt begins Feb. 7
A two-week Coon Rapids Snowflake Days picture scavenger hunt begins today (Friday, Feb. 7).
Ten photos of something, somewhere in the city of Coon Rapids appear in today’s Coon Rapids Herald and on the Coon Rapids Snowflake Days website (www.coonrapidssnowflakedays.weebly.com, click on Picture Trivia Contest).
Another 10 photos will be published in the Friday, Feb. 14 newspaper and on the Snowflake Days website that day, too.
There is a form on the Snowflake Days website Picture Trivia Contest page where people can submit their identification of the photos along with providing their contact information and the date of their response.
The person to correctly name the most photos will win $100. In the case of a tie, a drawing will determine the winner.
