Trend Tool Inc., a Spring Lake Park business, is the recipient of an award for government contractors.
The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime presented a bronze award to Trend Tool for its quick, quality delivery of vehicle hardware and hydraulic cylinders.
The DLA granted nearly 200 awards this year; it works with 5,400 contractors annually.
A numerical score, tabulated from data relaying suppliers’ delivery history, indicates if contractors qualify for an award. Scores range from zero to 100. A perfect score warrants a gold award, a score of 99 earns a silver award and a score of 98 wins a bronze award.
This is the second year in a row Trend Tool has walked away with a bronze award.
To score a 98, “the quality has to be top-shelf,” according to Trend Tool’s Sales Manager Anthony Scavo, who accepted the award for the company in Columbus, Ohio, at a ceremony Nov. 15, 2013. Even winning bronze is tough to accomplish, he said.
Trend Tool does 90 percent of its business with the government.
The company moved from Blaine to its current address, 8001 Central Ave. NE, Spring Lake Park, 12 years ago and employs a crew of fewer than 10. “[We’re] small, but mighty,” Scavo said.
