A women’s barbershop chorus will present the second concert of the 2014 Coon Rapids Arts Commission’s dessert and coffee series.
The City of Lakes Chorus will perform at the Coon Rapids Civic Center Thursday, Feb. 13, 7 p.m.
A chapter of Sweet Adelines International, the City of Lakes Chorus has been performing in the Twin Cities and across the country since 1952.
The 100 voices of the chorus have won many awards – first in every regional competition in which the chorus has taken part since 1967 and it has been among the top 10 finalists in 18 of the 20 international competitions it has entered since 1971, according to the City of Lakes Chorus website.
The main purpose of the chorus is to get out and sing for the community – at annual shows, community events and annual competitions, the website states.
The remaining concerts on the 2014 schedule are:
• Thursday, March 13, The Percolators, variety/country.
• Thursday, April 10, The Bill & Tom Show, variety.
In addition to the concert, dessert and coffee are served.
Admission to each concert, including dessert and beverage, is $7 for adults and $5 for adults age 65 and older and children age 12 and under.
Tickets can be purchased at the Coon Rapids City Center. Call 763-767-6432 for more information.
The Coon Rapids Arts Commission promotes local cultural productions and talents, including band concerts and art shows, and identifies and heightens community awareness of cultural needs in the community, according to the city of Coon Rapids website.
