Afternoon, evening activities called off with snowstorm

As wet, heavy flakes fall in the Twin Cities, Anoka-Hennepin District 11 and Spring Lake Park District 16 have canceled afternoon and evening activities.

With hazardous driving conditions expected, Anoka-Hennepin called off all activities and meetings, with the exception of the School Readiness Preschool classes that start at 3 p.m., as well as the superintendent candidate question-and-answer sessions and interview.

Buses may be more than 30 minutes late, according to the district. Parents are asked not to contact the transportation department unless their child’s bus is more than 30 minutes behind schedule.

Spring Lake Park has also called off after-school events. Learning Ventures childcare will stay open.

As of 2:30 p.m., no decision had been made about the SLP boys hockey section semifinal game.
