Man faces two felony charges in domestic

A woman has alleged that she was choked, punched, thrown around and that she and her children were threatened by her boyfriend at a Coon Rapids residence.

Kristopher Lee Parson, 31, Coon Rapids, was arraigned in Anoka County District Court Feb. 7 on felony terroristic threats and domestic assault by strangulation charges. Bail was set at $100,000.

Coon Rapids Police responded to a Flintwood Street address the evening of Feb. 6 on a physical domestic call where a woman reported that her boyfriend, Parson, accusing her of cheating on him, grabbed her by the neck and pushed her into the bedroom from the kitchen area, then pushed her head into a wall, threw her to the floor and got on top of her with his knee on her chest, according to the complaint.

The complaint alleges that while his knee was on the woman’s chest, Parson pulled her head up at an extreme angle to prevent her from breathing and she nearly lost consciousness.

The woman’s children came into the room and started yelling at Parson to stop beating their mother, but he allegedly grabbed the woman by the throat, picked her up off the floor and held her up against a wall, then threw her back down on the floor, choked her and again pulled up her head at an extreme angle.

And when the woman tried to escape by grabbing the door frame of the bedroom, Parson allegedly prevented her from leaving, punched her in the face and continually made threats to kill both her and her children.

According to the complaint, the woman was eventually able to escape to a neighbor’s house and police took photos that showed her injuries were consistent with her account of what happened, as well as damage to the home caused during the assault.
