Man gets 57 months in prison for abusing 6-year-old daughter

A 20-year-old man was sentenced Feb. 11 in Anoka County District Court to 57 months in prison for assaulting his 6-year-old daughter.

Shawn Eric Lange pled guilty Dec. 9 to felony first-degree assault. Two other felony charges of malicious punishment of a child were dismissed at sentencing, and he was given credit for 338 days already served in jail.

According to the criminal complaint, the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office was called March 7, 2013, by the girl’s great-grandmother after she had picked her up from Lange’s Anoka home and observed that the young girl had a large bruise on her head, a small amount of blood coming from her nose, discolored lips and appeared lethargic.

Medical professionals said she had bleeding in her brain and in her eye, and a skull fracture. She was also healing from fractures to her ribs, lower leg, and forearms, according to the complaint.
