The Coon Rapids High School Winterguard will host its annual Cardinal Classic home show on Saturday, March 8, 1 p.m. in the Coon Rapids High School fieldhouse. The show will feature units from across Minnesota, as well as a performance by the Coon Rapids Winter Drumline.
Winterguard is the competitive sport of indoor color guard, using a combination of flags, sabers and mock rifles as well as dance and interpretive movement. This year’s Coon Rapids Winterguard show is titled “Winter Song” by Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson. The show takes the audience through a journey of finding happiness and meaning in life through the bitter, cold winter months. Under the direction of Rachel Davis with assistance from Bethany Hanson and Patrick Puckett, members are Sierra Pattin, Jenny Dentz, Edwin Vasquez, Sabrina Larson, Marissa Glaser, Rachel Johnson, Irma Frlj, Zoe Erickson, Lynsey Davis, Ashley Landsteiner, and Taylar Landsteiner.
Other winterguard units competing Saturday include Burnsville, Eden Prairie, Synergy, Worthington, Sauk Rapids, Park Center, Minnesota Brass Independent, and Henry Sibley. Tickets are $5 for students and seniors, $8 for adults and children ages five and younger are admitted free of charge.
