At a March 7 meeting, the Blaine City Council set recommendations for 1974 non-union police salaries, and requested that acting city manager Theis stay within the budget in adjusting salaries for other non-union personnel.

Minnesota Meadows vies for winner’s circle

As the lights dimmed in the plush board room of the Hennepin County Government Center in downtown Minneapolis eight slide projectors flashed images on two screens set up on either side of the room. The Minnesota Meadows team from Blaine was running down the final stretch in the race to be named home to Minnesota horse racing. Nine Minnesota Race Track Commissioners listened for seven and a half hours to five development teams from Blaine, Eagan, Savage, Shakopee, and Woodbury explain why their site would be the best choice.

Playing with purpose

From the wildly colorful maze of tunnels, slides and ball pools comes the hearty laughter of children and their parents. The atmosphere is almost electric, charged with high energy. This is what appears on the surface at Leaps & Bounds in Blaine. Look a little deeper, past the fun, and it becomes apparent that something very special is happening. While children enjoy playing they are learning agility and balance as well as developing more self-confidence, self-awareness and self-esteem.
