Senior safety, wellness fair at SBM Fire Department

The Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View Fire Department is hosting the annual Senior Safety and Wellness Fair Thursday, May 1.

Pre-registration is required and costs $10 per person. The deadline is April 17 or whenever registration is full. Call 763-767-4003 for more information.

The fair is held at SBM Fire Station No. 3, 11920 Ulysses Street NE, in Blaine.

Senior citizens are asked to check in by 8:30 a.m. Vendor displays will be set up by then. There will be numerous speakers making presentations from 9:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. with times for lunch and other breaks scheduled. The $10 fee includes refreshments and lunch.

The special presentations and topics to be covered include a canine demonstration on detecting explosives, scams and frauds, six steps to home safety, safe driving tips, fitness and information from the Blaine Medical Center Urgent Care.

Along with the fire department, this event is also sponsored by the park and recreation department for the cities of Blaine and Spring Lake Park and the Blaine Police Department.
