The body of a Coon Rapids man was found March 20 in the Mississippi River in St. Paul.
The Ramsey Medical Examiner’s Office Tuesday, March 25 identified the victim as Christopher Michael Labalestra, 40. The cause of death is still under investigation, but it is not considered suspicious, according to Lori Hedican, chief investigator at the medical examiner’s office.
Hedican said employees of the Ford Dam called 911 at 10:46 a.m. March 20 after finding Labalestra’s body.
Capt. John Hattstrom of the Coon Rapids Police Department said the Minneapolis Police Department asked them to check Labalestra’s house Oct. 24 after they received a report that someone had seen him jump off the Washington Avenue bridge. Coon Rapids police had no further involvement in the investigation beyond this, Hattstrom said.
