One sent to hospital after head-on crash in Coon Rapids

Inattentive driving caused a head-on crash in Coon Rapids Tuesday afternoon, March 25, according to police reports.

Capt. John Hattstrom of the Coon Rapids Police Department said authorities were called to the scene of the accident on East River Road near Highway 610 at 1:05 p.m.

According to witness statements detailed in the accident report, the driver of a white 1994 Toyota passenger car went over theĀ East River Road median and into the opposite lane of traffic and struck a commercial Class B truck after she exited Highway 610.

Tashona Lynn Dahl, 30, of Minneapolis, was cited for inattentive driving, driving without proof of insurance and driver after revocation of her license, according to the report.

A 46-year-old male passenger in the Toyota was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital. The extent of his injuries could not be verified.

The 41-year-old male truck driver from New Brighton was not injured, Hattstrom said.

The Coon Rapids Fire Department assisted with vehicle extrication, according to Hattstrom.
