Blaine Arts Council awards teen artists

The Blaine Arts Council recently announced the winners of its Teen Art Show and awarded 12 young artists with ribbons, certificates and prizes at a March 18 reception.

Shari Kunza, program supervisor for Blaine Parks and Recreation, said the arts council received 50 entries and was pleased with quality of the art work.

The following young artists were recognized:

–Best of Show: Renata Mecicar (Blaine High School), “Serenade of the Wind.”

–Painting: first place Momoka Tawada (Spring Lake Park High School, grade 12), “Black Butterfly”; second place Danielle Peterson (Blaine High School, grade 12), “Merry-Go-Round”; third place Kiersten Falck (Blaine High School, grade 12), “Mr. President.”

–Drawing: first place Megan Treece (Blaine High School, grade nine), “Black & White Still Life”; second place Brandon Spry (Spring Lake Park High School, grade 11), “Fallen Angel”; third place Kelly Behrenbrinker (Blaine High School, grade 12), “Clock Watcher.”

–Photography: first place Catherine Brinker (Brinker Academy, grade 11), “Cherry on the Spoon.”

–Pastel: first place Brittany Brama (Blaine High School, grade 12), “Self Portrait”; second place Eveline Ellenbecker (Spring Lake Park High School, grade 11), “Trench Coat”; third place McKenna Thompson (Spring Lake Park High School, grade 11), “Between Night/Day.”

–3D: first place Jorge De La Cruz (Spring Lake Park High School, grade 12), “Little Green Giant Teapot.”
