Felony DWI, drug possession charges

A 26-year-old woman was charged March 20 by the Anoka County Attorney’s Office on three felony charges after she was pulled over in Coon Rapids.

Ashley Elizabeth Wicklund, of Elk River, is facing one count of first-degree driving while impaired and two fifth-degree drug possession charges.

According to the criminal complaint, a Coon Rapids Police Department officer pulled Wicklund over 9:57 a.m. March 18 after he saw her swerving in and out of a lane on eastbound Highway 10 near Hanson Boulevard.

The officer believed she was under the influence when he spoke to her and she failed field sobriety tests. Preliminary breath tests registered no alcohol. She admitted that she used methadone the previous evening. She claimed she had a prescription for it, but did not have it on her. During a search of her vehicle, the officer found four yellow pills that were confirmed to be alprazolam and diazepam, according to the complaint.

Wicklund has three prior impaired driving incident convictions on her record, which is why she was charged with a felony DWI.
