About 195 ladies spent Saturday, April 5 at the Andover YMCA/Community Center working on home projects and crafts on tables set up in the fieldhouse.

This was a great social opportunity for women – many who came from outside  Anoka County – ut the main purpose of the sixth annual Ladies Day Out fundraiser was to raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Larry Schuerman, 49, of Ramsey, has Multiple Sclerosis. His wife Brenda and daughters Beth Juranek and Nicole Schuerman have organized this event since just after he was diagnosed in 2007.

The cause of Multiple Sclerosis is unknown, but what doctors know is that the disese  disrupts the flow of information between the brain and body, making it tough to function.

“This year we raised almost $5,000 for the MS Society,” Juranek said. “We have already spoken to many of the women there and look forward to another great year next year.”
