Girls lacrosse preview

Andover
Coach: Derek Johnson, fourth season
Outlook: A very young squad will lean on the leadership of senior captains Lauren Borden and Karah Lodge to set a winning expectation for the Huskies.
Carly Haskins was last year’s top scorer and the senior netted 17 of the team’s 37 goals last spring for the winless (0-12) Huskies. Senior Taylor Hartje returns after scoring four goals.
Andover had many new players to the sport come out for preseason practice and coach Derek Johnson said the captains are eager to get started with the new class of players.

Coach: Dennis Osbeck, third season
Outlook: Coming off a 7-8 record, Blaine returns with sophomore all-conference attacker Ashley Osbeck who scored 65 points (35 goals) and 147 draw wins. Honorable mention honorees – junior Lexi Nelson and sophomore Hailey Borja return after scoring 22 and 16 goals, respectively.
The Bengals have seven freshmen on the varsity roster and added four-year University of Minnesota player Laura Ricke to the coaching staff this season.

Coach: Jeff DeJoy, sixth season
Outlook: The Cardinals look to replace 100 points collected between Sammi DeJoy (59) and Rachel Droubie (41) with hopes of returning to the section finals.
Coon Rapids posted a 12-4 record but bring back  a lot of speed and a competitive attitude keyed by Heidi Hannula (44 points, 56 ground balls), Alexa Turner (5 points, 33 ground balls and eight forced takeaways) and Megan Phillippi (13 points, 38 ground balls and 21 forced takeaways).
