Coon Rapids ice show celebrates 50 years

The Coon Rapids Ice Center will host a display of skating talent and athleticism as part of the “Silver Jubilee: A Tribute to 25 years of Ice Shows.” The Ice Fantasy show is a tradition at the Coon Rapids Ice Center, featuring skaters from Coon Rapids and several surrounding communities. The program includes a variety of skating performances set to music, as well as the popular father-daughter performance, featuring 20 couples.  Skaters range in age from four to adult.

Three community performances will take place on: Friday, April 25, 7 p.m.; Saturday, April 26 , 6:30 p.m.; Sunday, April 27, 2 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at the door on the day of the performances. Ticket prices are: $7 for adults, $5 for students and seniors. Children ages four and younger are free.

As part of this year’s 25th annual event, the Coon Rapids Ice Fantasy Show will feature guest skater Alexander Johnson, an International Challenge Cup silver medalist. Johnson is originally from Minnetonka but now trains in Colorado Springs. The Minnesota native, who began skating at age three, is also a four-time U.S. Senior National competitor and a 2013 Midwestern silver medalist.
