A Pro-Am event to benefit the Lupus Foundation of Minnesota will bring celebrities together with Olympic and World-class curlers together at Four Seasons Curling Club May 2-4.

Participants had the opportunity to pick a celebrity skip during the Friday night welcome party by raising pledges to compete with or against Olympians including John Shuster (2014 US Skip and 2006 Olympic silver medalist under Pete Fenson); John Landsteiner (2014 Olmypian); Jessica Schultz (2014 and 2006 Olympian); John Benton (2010 Olympian); Allison Pottinger (2014 and 2010 Olympian); John Gordon (1998 and 2002 Olympian); Courtney George (2006 Olympian); World bronze medalists Todd Birr and Kevin Birr.

A silent auction May 2 and 3 will include gear donated by winter Olympians and NHL players with a dinner and dance after competition on Saturday.

A media game and contests including a Draw-to-the-Button contest hosted by Olympians will be Saturday afternoon.

Four Seasons Curling Club, Director of Communications, Regan Mizuno, who has lupus, is experiencing an influx of support.

“The goal is to bring awareness to this disease,” according to Mizuno. “Money and efforts go towards Lupus research and medical student education programs which respectively result in new drugs, new studies of drugs coming in the future, and earlier, life-saving diagnoses.”

Four Seasons will welcome 96 teams to the second annual Blazin’ Brooms of Blaine summer bonspiel, June 12-15.
