Police in Winona are investigating a dead body found in a rented recreational vehicle that had been picked up in Anoka.
According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, it’s criminal investigation division was contacted May 1 about the body. Earlier that day a group of individuals had rented the RV from a private party, picking it up in Anoka. While traveling, the individuals who had rented the RV pulled off the freeway in Winona to investigate an odor and discovered the body in a storage compartment accessible from the outside, according to Cmdr. Paul Sommer of the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.
The scene and the body will be processed by the Winona Police Department and the Minnesota BCA.
According to Sommer, there is no identification of the decedent at this time and no cause or manner of death is known.
