Two players, one coach at the Play Ball! all-star series

The end of the high school baseball season isn’t marked solely by the state tournament, but rather select individuals that will represent their team in the 40th annual Play Ball! Minnesota High School Baseball All-Star Series at Chaska Athletic Park June 19-21.

Four teams including North, South, Metro East and Metro West will take part in practices, games, a bowling outing and youth baseball clinics.

St. Francis head coach Brian Julson will coach the Metro West team along with Chaska’s Craig Baumann and Wayzata’s Bobby DeWitt.

For the second year in a row Coon Rapids will be represented as Alex Boxwell was named to the Metro West roster, one year after Florida pitcher Logan Shore took the mound.

Boxwell will play at the University of Minnesota after batting .506 with 14 extra base hits, 18 RBIs, 10 stolen bases and 26 runs scored.

Jason Brumbaugh, of Anoka, will attend Ashland College in Ohio on a partial baseball scholarship and was also named to the Metro West team.
