Mary Ellen (Clark) Trotter, age 69, passed on June 9, 2014 in Clarkston, Michigan surrounded by her family.
Mary Ellen was born in Anoka, Minnesota on September 7, 1944. She was the first of seven children born to Katie (Talbot) and Don Clark. She graduated from Anoka High in 1962 and went on to St. Scholastica in Duluth where she graduated in 1966 with a degree in education. She taught in Chicago and then moved to Detroit where she continued to teach and earned a masters in music. She later moved to Maine with her four children and taught there while she earned a library science degree. After which she moved back to Minnesota where she pursued a nursing degree at St. Catherines. While earning her degree she worked in the gardens both at St. Catherines and at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, as well as working at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. She loved the outdoors and animals. She volunteered at the animal shelter and took nieces and nephews there to walk the animals. She later moved to Ohio and worked for the AmeriCorps Program. Then she moved to Tennessee to be close to her daughter who was stationed at Fort Campbell. While in Tennessee she worked at a church daycare center before moving to Michigan with the family.
Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, many beloved uncles and aunts and her nephew Ezekiel Clark.
She is survived by her sons Calvin, Scott and Andre (Tonya) Trotter and daughter Jill (McCarroll) Coates; granddaughters Deborah and Crystal Trotter and grandsons Cortland Coates and Avery Woodman; siblings Greg (Jen), Mike (Kathie), Pat (Sukie), Norah Wyman, Cathy (Don) King and Buster (Kelly); 16 nieces and nephews, 10 great nieces and nephews; uncle Buster Talbot and many wonderful COUSINS!
Mass of the Christian Burial will be at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Anoka at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2014, to be officiated by cousin Fr. Ralph Talbot, with a graveside prayer service to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Anoka. Memorials preferred to the family.
