The Blaine Festival is fast approaching.
The annual community summer celebration, sponsored by the non-profit Blaine Festival Committee, will take place Friday, June 27 through Sunday, June 29 at Aquatore Park at the northwest corner of Highways 10 and 65.
Friday evening, June 27, activities start at 5 p.m. with the craft show and vendor fair and carnival. The highlight of the evening will be a 7:30 p.m. street dance with the band GB Leighton.
Saturday, June 28, and Sunday, June 29 will be packed full of family fun activities including performances by The Tombstone Trio, Cloud 10, Johnny Holm and Jacob Martin Band.
The kids will be sure to enjoy the carnival rides and games, the petting zoo, magic shows, a “Kids Mania: Jump Around Dance Party” and much more.
Demonstrations include: a Blaine officer and his K-9 partner, the Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View Fire Department showing a fire safety house, Kim’s Taekwondo Center, Mickman Brother’s on the good and bad bugs in your garden, USA-1 Monster Truck, and a bald eagle program from the University of Minnesota Raptor Center.
The parade starts at noon Saturday, June 28 on Jefferson Street at 117th Avenue and travels south before ending by Madison Elementary School.

July 4 activities
The city of Blaine sponsors activities on the Fourth of July, which falls on a Friday this year.
This includes an 8:30 a.m. flag raising by Blaine City Hall.
The fireworks show at the National Sports Center starts at 10 p.m. July 4.
