The Northern Symphony Orchestra performs its annual Music for the Fourth of July concert 7:30 p.m. July 3 at Anoka High School auditorium (3939 Seventh Ave. N, Anoka).
Conductor Michael Halstenson invites patriots young and old to enjoy an air-conditioned concert featuring patriotic music of American composers Aaron Copland and John Williams, as well as the finale to Dvorak’s “New World Symphony.”
“I can’t think of any better way to celebrate our nation’s independence than to be here with 1,000 community members, enjoying our fine symphony orchestra playing this amazing music,” Halstenson said.
Tickets for the concert are $10, adults; $5, seniors; students 18 and younger are admitted free of charge.
Anoka’s fireworks display provides the perfect crescendo when dusk falls and pyrotechnics ignite
shortly after the final piece is played.
Best viewing for fireworks is just behind the high school campus at Castle Field (4001 Seventh Ave. N, Anoka).
