The Blaine City Council June 19 approved a contract to overlay Naples Street from 95th Avenue to where the road aligns with 103rd Avenue.
North Valley Inc., of Elk River, was the low bidder at $415,596.61. All six bids were under city engineer’s estimate of $500,000.
The old 3.5-inch road surface will be torn up and some of it can be re-used for the new 4-inch surface as part of this mill and overlay project.
The project will take place from July through September, according to the city’s feasibility report. There are 19 commercial or industrial properties along this road that will each be assessed $20.51 per front foot.
Aside from assessments, funding will come from the city’s pavement management fund and its Municipal State Aid street fund that receives revenue from the state gas tax.
