Student-built home seeks owner

If you are looking for a bargain in a brand new house, look no further than Blaine High School. A student-built, three-bedroom rambler featuring a main floor laundry and a three-quarter bath adjoining the master bedroom is going to the highest bidder July 25 at 11 a.m. Minimum bid is $49,500.

The 1,352 square foot (26 by 52 feet) home features laminate flooring in common areas and carpeting in the bedrooms, solar light in both bathrooms, beautiful kitchen cabinetry including a central island, a microwave and hood combination and a maintenance free exterior. It’s ready to be moved onto a foundation.

Approximately 120 students in instructor Tim Nestrud’s three carpentry courses – interiors, exteriors and finishing – gained many skills as they worked on this project. Potential purchasers can be assured the work was done well. Nestrud supervised every step of the project and the home passed all applicable state construction inspections.
