The Veterans Council of Anoka County held its 25th annual Veterans Flag Raising ceremony at the Anoka County Fair ground’s Veterans Memorial Flagpole area, on opening day of the Anoka County Fair, July 22.

It was through the collective efforts of the Veterans organizations in Anoka County that the flagpole was purchased and erected.

The pole and the flag which it flies were appropriately dedicated to all veterans from Anoka County who served this country; the firing squad fired three shots after the flag was raised.

Members from area American Legion and VFW Posts took part in the ceremony. The Anoka American Legion Post 102 hosted the event.
