The community is invited to visit Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts 7:30 p.m. Aug. 8 to hear stories and poetry from Gwen Westerman and Glenn Wasicuna as part of this year’s Dirty Hands Reading Series.
Westerman is a poet and visual artist. She is the author of a collection of poetry, “Follow the Blackbirds,” and the co-author of “Mni Sota Makoce: The Land of the Dakota.”
Wasicuna teaches Dakota language at Dakota Wicohan in Morton, Minnesota.
The reading series features writers whose work addresses the world with immediacy and sharp edges. Discover new voices as well as new writing from familiar writers and new ways of reading and presenting poetry, prose and ideas.
Series curator Becca Barniskis invites audience response and facilitates a lively exchange between writers and readers. All events are free and open to the public.
