Man with machete robs Coon Rapids gas station

A man with a machete robbed a Coon Rapids gas station the early hours of Monday morning.

According to the Coon Rapids Police report, about 2 a.m. Aug. 18, a younger white male entered the Holiday Station store, 13051 Round Lake Blvd., carrying a machete over his left shoulder, demanded the employee hand him money from the cash register and left on foot with about $120 in cash.

He was wearing a blaze orange ski mask, black long-sleeve shirt and black pants, the police report states.

Video surveillance at the store showed the suspect leaving in a southbound direction toward Northdale Boulevard.

A Coon Rapids Police officer searching the area found a black shirt matching the description of the one worn by the suspect in the middle of Northdale Boulevard east of Highway 10 and behind the Best Buy store, according to the police report.
