Jane Stevenson, principal at Spring Lake Park High School, announced her intent to retire from the position effective June 30. She has been principal at SLPHS since the fall of 2010.
“I want to thank the high school staff, students and parents for their support and commitment to our school,” Stevenson said. “It has been an honor to serve as principal here, and I am proud of what we have been able to accomplish together.”
Stevenson has worked for Minnesota school districts for more than 34 years. She began her career as a special education teacher in the Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose School District.
She also worked as a special education teacher and administrative intern for Minneapolis Public Schools. In 2001, she became associate principal at Eden Prairie High School. Prior to coming to SLPHS, she served as principal at Inver Grove Heights Middle School.
“Jane has made a significant, positive contribution to the student experience in Spring Lake Park, demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement in all she does,” Superintendent Jeff Ronneberg said. “She has been an invaluable leader, student-centered in all she does, at the high school and across the district. I wish her all the best in her retirement.”
The search for a new principal will begin immediately. Updates regarding the process will be provided, with identification of a final candidate no later than early May.
