Andover’s Matt Aune named Section 7AAAA boys basketball COY

Andover head coach Matt Aune has been named the Section 7AAAA boys basketball Coach of the Year.

The Huskies turned it on late in the season as the No. 7 seed in the section playoffs. Andover defeated No. 2 seed Blaine 59-57, No. 3 seed Coon Rapids 74-71 and No. 1 seed Forest Lake 63-53 to advance to the Class 4A state tournament.

At state, the Huskies were eliminated after losses to No. 2 Maple Grove (73-50) and unseeded Cretin-Derham Hall (89-80 in double-overtime).

Andover finished its season 11-20 overall.
