Bend and snap up your tickets for “Legally Blonde Jr.,” playing at Roosevelt Middle School April 27-29.
The one-hour musical is an abbreviated version of the hit Broadway musical, which has the same storyline as the 2001 novel by Amanda Brown and movie starring Reese Witherspoon: Elle Woods, a blonde sorority girl, makes it her mission to win the heart of Warner Huntington III by following him to Harvard Law School. While many write her off as decidedly unserious, she proves herself in the courtroom. Brains are for blondes and brunettes.
Thirty sixth-graders join Roosevelt theater veterans in the production.
“We are finally in a place where we have sixth-graders who arrive at RMS already excited about the program,” artistic director Shanan Edelheit said. “Our sixth-grade group this year is the strongest we have had in a long time. I don’t think we have missed a step.”
Audiences may notice improved sound quality in the Roosevelt gymnasium. With a new system, “the kids should sound better than ever,” Edelheit said.
Performances begin at 7 p.m. April 27, 28 and 29 at RMS, 650 125th Ave. NE, Blaine.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors.
