The 2017 Thursday Nites Live! at the Dam summer concert series has been announced by the Coon Rapids Arts Commission.

The free concerts will take place at 7 p.m. in the performance pavilions at the Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park on eight Thursdays from early June to early August.

The schedule is:

-June 8, Ecuador Manta (Latin fusion).

-June 15, Hitchville (country).

-June 22, Castaways (1960s rock).

-June 29, Polka Beats (polka).

-July 13, ZingRays (1950s, 1960s, 1970s vintage rock).

-July 20, Backyard Bands (variety).

-July 27, Locklin Road (Celtic).

-Aug. 3, Church of Cash (Johnny Cash Tribute Band).

According to Stephanie Lincoln, deputy city clerk and staff liaison to the arts commission, Anoka County has once again agreed to waive the parking fee at the regional park the evenings of the concerts.

“The arts commission would like to recognize the assistance of the Anoka County Parks and Recreation Department rangers and other staff in presenting the series,” Lincoln said.

A local Boy Scout troop will have popcorn, candy, soda and water for sale during the concerts, while the Coon Rapids North Star Lions Club will sell food items that include hamburgers, hot dogs, brats and walking tacos.

“The arts commission appreciates the opportunity to continue presenting the series to the community,” Lincoln said.
