Winning starts for Blaine, Spring Lake Park softball

The Blaine and Spring Lake Park softball teams have gotten off to quick starts to their seasons.

Blaine improved to 4-0 after Tuesday’s 3-2 win against Maple Grove. The Bengals have scored 10 or more runs in their first three games.

Madison Pederson leads the charge with 11 hits and Mary Pardo has added eight.

Malorie Stone’s pitching has been dominant, with 12 strikeouts and zero earned runs.

Spring Lake Park, the defending Section 5AAAA champions, are 3-2 overall after a great battle, but 2-0 loss to Anoka.

The Panthers have defeated Edina, Robbinsdale Armstrong and Andover while losing to St. Michael-Albertville.
