District 16 School Board cannot use legal action to oppose the building of a proposed swimming pool at Roosevelt School Supt. Chris Huber reported at the school board meeting April 12.

As the District 16 school district board room began to fill with concerned parents, teachers, students and taxpayers, the temperature started to rise, and the school board had not even begun to discuss the sticky subject of cutting $326,000 out of an already lean school district budget.

Site work begins for Super Rink

Site work has begun on the 120,000 square-foot, four-sheet National Sports Center Super Rink. The $10 million project will include four Olympic-size sheets of ice under the roof, making it one of the largest ice complexes in the country, according to Paul Erickson, executive director of the Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission, which will own and operate the facility.
