Anoka pitcher Amber Elliott was named the Play Ball! Minnesota Ms. Softball award winner at a ceremony Sunday at Target Field. The award honors the top softball player in Minnesota.
In 15 games pitching this season, Elliott went 10-2 with one save. The senior struck out 145 batters in 103.2 innings while walking 15 and allowing 61 hits.
At the plate, Elliot averaged .431 with 31 hits in 21 games.
The Tornadoes were 25-2 this season and took second place at the Class 4A state tournament.
Anoka also represented in the Mr. Baseball award ceremony, as Trent Palmer was a finalist.
The senior pitcher was 5-1 in the regular season with 77 strikeouts while batting .344.
Burnsville’s Sam Carlson, who was picked No. 55 by Seattle in the 2017 MLB Draft, was named the Mr. Baseball winner.
