Fancy Dancin’ wins three titles at nationals in Wisconsin

Coon Rapids’ Fancy Dancin’ dance studio came home from nationals at the Midwest Starz Dance Competition in Wisconsin Dells earlier this month with a hat trick on the last day.

They took home three Grand National first place titles in the solo division, duet division and the group division. It made for an exciting last day after five days of competing there.

Soloist Carley Frank had been doing very well all year with her tap solo to the title “Steppin Out.” She received many high points and also a “dancer of the year” jacket.

The duet “Two of a Kind” also has been undefeated since the beginning of last year and they took home grand champs two years in a row.

The mini small-group hip hop dance “Back to School” also had a great year of many wins and high scores and ended the year on top.

This year, Fancy Dancin’ has won lots of judges choice awards and many top scores for solos, duos and groups. Sisters Saige (8) and Ella (11) Haugen both received Grand Champion in their age division. They were very excited to be able to win the same title as sisters. It was Saige’s fourth consecutive win.

Fancy Dancin’ is offering classes throughout the summer and then regular classes start in September. Registration begins in August on every Thursday from 5-8 p.m.
