From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 9, visitors are invited to view the works of talented local artists and to get involved in creating their own watercolor painting.

There’s a fee for artists to display their work, but no charge for the general public to attend.

Tillery Bailey, a recreation program intern for the city of Ramsey, said the success of the multiple art classes held in Ramsey over the past year in partnership with the RumRiver Art Center led to the idea of creating a more extensive Ramsey Art Fair.

“It was about creating a community event that just gets people together, focused on the arts, whether it’s education or people doing their own art and sharing it with the community,” she said.

Bailey said she has received very positive feedback from the local artist community. She reached out to the RumRiver Art Center and Artists Del Notre to recruit artists. Ramsey has also been publicizing the event on its website and in the city newsletter.

Registration will be open until July 6, but Bailey encouraged artists to sign up by July 3 in ordered to be guaranteed a table. The fee is $10 for a 10-foot by 10-foot display space for adults. The cost is $5 for artists ages 12-18. Tables may be rented for $9.50.

The art must be family friendly.

During the July 9 Ramsey Art Fair at Elmcrest Park, the RumRiver Art Center is hosting 45-minute watercolor painting classes for beginners starting at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

There also will be artist demonstrations at noon and 2 p.m.
