One killed, three injured in Highway 65 crash

Two motorcycles collided on Highway 65 Saturday afternoon in East Bethel.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of Highway 65 and 184th Ave. NE just before 3 p.m. on June 8.

According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, both motorcycles were traveling north on Highway 65 and came into contact with each other, causing them to crash.

One of the adult female passengers was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Another adult female passenger and one male driver were flown to Hennepin County Medical Center, both in critical condition.

The other male driver was transported to Mercy Hospital with serious injuries.

The woman who died was identified as Sara Gilbert, 50, of Eden Prairie.

The Sheriff’s Office does not believe any of the individuals were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

The incident is being investigated by the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.
