It is tradition to raise the flags and have speakers while the patriotic organizations of Anoka County present the colors and fire a salute after the flags are raised in front of the courthouse.

This year’s guest speaker was Anoka County Commissioner Rhonda Sivarajah.

Members of the Anoka County patriotic organizations from Anoka American Legion, Columbia Heights VFW, Coon Rapids American Legion and VFW , Fridley Legion, Kraus Hartig VFW and Anoka Chapter 39 DAV all participated in the color guards and the rifle squad. The Anoka American Legion for provided coffee and donuts, the Anoka Police Department blocked traffic and the Anoka County Government center provided equipment for the ceremony.
